Two crushed to death as trailer falls on car on Airport road

This sad incident occurred on Monday night May 27th along Airport road in Mafoluku, Lagos. A trailer carrying heavy duty rods lost control and fell on a car with three people inside. 

 

The three occupants of the car, two men and a woman, were staff of Zenith Pension, Victoria Island. The two men, Ovie and Sir Kay, lost their lives, while the lady survived with a deep cut on her head.

Dumebi Kachikwu and wife welcome daughter

Dumebi Kachikwu, the multimillionaire businessman and former son-in-law of ex aviation minister, Kema Chikwe, recently welcomed a daughter. His wife, Iheme, gave birth to the couple's first child in the US. The new bundle of joy is Dumebi's 5th child.

Dumebi was previously married to Somachi Chikwe, and they had four sons together before the marriage packed up. He married Iheme in 2011. Congrats to them.

How Tuface And Josephine Anenih Escaped Death In Averted Plane Crash

A very big disaster was reportedly averted last Sunday, May 19th, when an SAA South African Airways Airbus A340-600, registration ZS-SNG performing flight SA-60 from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Lagos (Nigeria) conveying over 300 people developed an electrical fault in Mid-air.

According to an eye witness, he was on the flight that fateful day..it was a night flight and he was listening to music from his Ipod when he perceived a foul burning odor, he thought the white man sitting next to him had farted but he knew it something more serious when he noticed people panicking.

Lebanese man arrested for kidnapping in Lagos

A 23 year old Lebanese man has been arrested by police in Lagos for kidnapping his 61 year old aunt, Alhaja Essa Dannawi. Mohammed Dannawi (pictured above) conspired with a former employee of his aunt, Obi Kwentua, (pictured above) to kidnap the woman on May 2nd at her home in Ebute Meta, Lagos.

Mohammed, who later confessed to the crime, told police during interrogation that he didn't kidnap his aunt because of money but to punish her because she offended him and his wife. He said:

AGN set to host screen actors award

In the bid to recognise actors, individuals, corporate bodies, government and its agencies that have contributed immensely to the growth of the nation’s motion picture industry, the  Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has concluded plans to organise its own award ceremony  known as the Screen Actors Award.
Already, the National President of the guild, Ms Ibinabo Fiberesima has inaugurated a 10- man committee to oversee to the hosting of the maiden edition of the award this year.
To be chaired by Don Pedro Aganbi, the committee has other members, including Julius Omije as Vice Chairman, veteran actor, Tony Akposheri as PRO, Clinic Matters actress, Ejiro Okurame (mobilization) sensational actress Cynthia Agholor and Amaka Eze will be in charge of marketing the event.

LAGOS—Emotions ran high, Tuesday, at Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, following startling revelations by suspected members of three syndicates, who specialised in selling human parts to herbalists and persons suspected to be clerics.
The suspects told a bewildered crowd that human heads were sold for N8,000; hands, N4,000 and private parts N10,000.

ABUJA—Uncertainty fired by a web of intrigues, last night, shadowed aspirations of three of the nation’s governors ahead of today’s election of a new chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
Three governors- the incumbent, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State; Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State and Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State were the three candidates listed by the secretariat of the NGF for the election.
However, the shape of the contest was, last night, still being framed by the determination of associates of the president to stave off Amaechi’s re-election by persuading his two rivals to join forces against him.

BAR BEACH TO BE CLOSED ON CHILDREN'S DAY,MAY 25TH

The Management of Lagos Bar Beach said that children and other fun seekers will not be able to use the sandy area of the beach during the Children’s Day celebration.
According to Mr Effiong Ekanem, the Chairman, Tourism Committee of Lagos Bar Beach, made the fact known in Lagos on Saturday, saying the area was restricted.
Ekanem said the restriction was in compliance with safety regulations, adding that Eti-Osa Local Government issued the directive to ensure the safety of visitors at the beach.

Arik staff caught with N180m worth of cocaine at Heathrow airport

A female Arik staff was arrested yesterday Tuesday May 21st at Heathrow airport London for allegedly carrying cocaine worth about N180 million. Temitayo Olubunmi Daramola was arrested with 6kg of cocaine while another hostess Delita Abibimgbi was arrested for having 60 packets of cigarettes in her possession. The max limit of cigarettes any passenger is allowed to carry is 10 packs.

Security at Heathrow Airport detained Temitayo and Delita after detecting the illicit drugs in their possession. They are being held in custody by the UK authorities in London.

Arik Air has since reacted to the incident. The airline company's spokesman Banji Ola confirmed the detention of the two cabin crew members and said the airline will fully co-operate with all authorities involved in the investigation. Read the airline's statement after the cut..

Man beheaded in broad day light in Woolwich, South London

A man, believed to be a serving soldier, was attacked and beheaded with a machete in broad day light this afternoon in Woolwich, South London by two men in what is suspected to be a terror attack.

The soldier was attacked with knives and meat cleavers following a car crash. Two black men in a blue Vauxhall car rammed into the soldier on John Wilson Street, then jumped out of their car and started attacking him with meat cleavers. An eye witness said the attackers were "chopping this guy to pieces, literally hacking at something like it was a piece of meat".
